Mark as watched on original air date
It'd be great if the the default option for marking a whole show as watched automatically selected the original air date of the episodes rather than today's date.
When adding historical information to your account it skews all the watched stats as they all get added at the same time.
When updating an individual episode or a movie it could default to the Original Air Date (Release date for movies) with Current Date/Time and Choosing your own date/time as options.
This update is live. When you add to your history, it will ask when you watched this – now, on release date, or a specific date you choose.
More info and screenshots:
The option is still there, but for new accounts it will default to today's date on single click. If you click and hold, you get the popup with multiple choices. Or you can change your default in the settings to always show this popup.

This issue seems to have regressed. I cannot set a date other than today.
That's amazing! Thanks Justin!
Thanks Justin, glad you liked the idea, I look forward to seeing it in action!

I just signed up for trakt a few days ago, and I have watched thousands and thousands of TV series episodes and movies in the past. When I mark something as watched, it records it as watched at the point in time when I clicked the button.
This complete destroys the usefulness of the time stamps. All the graphs and stats about my watching habits are completely wrong by orders of magnitude.
I think that instead of a single button that marks something as watched *right now*, it should be a drop-down with the option of marking it as watched now, on the original air date or without a time stamp ("in the past"). When something is marked as watched in the past, without a time stamp, it should not be included in date-sensitive graphs and statistics.
I also noticed this feature when manually marking a movie as watched (using the little clock icon, to pick a date on the calendar).
It didn't really work very smoothly though, because if I try to change the date and time, I can only do one or the other. Once I pick a date, the dialog box (calendar) disappears. When I reopen the dialog box to choose a time, the date and time both reset.
I noticed that this feature has been already released on May 26, but I tested it and it only works per episode. This means that you would have to back fill your data episode by episode which would take a long time.
Are there any plans to make it so that the button that marks the whole show/season as watched/collected defaults to the first aired date to make it easier to back fill our shows with 1 click of a button per show/season instead of per episode?
I have set all my shows to Watched recently, but it set the Watched date to the day I set them as Watched. So all the history of my past week and month is messed up now, it shows that I watched 163k minutes this week/month, hmmmmm, no I didn't :P
I was about to suggest this idea when I saw it has already been suggested and I'm glad that it's planned, yaaaay :)
Any ETA on the release?
