Everything is way too big
All the images and a lot of the text on the site need to be cut to like 75%, I feel like this was designed for 90yos.
Syles have been tweaked over the last few weeks. Biggest updates include the smaller user header on sub pages and a more condensed progress page.
The last comment was made after I already pushed out updated styles for the progress page. As you'll notice, the poster and episode have been reduced in size and all profile sub pages have a smaller header to see more of the content. Mobile has also been updated prior to that post to work much better.
I used this website mostly for the progress page, but now it's terrible. And I really really really loved this whole website, but now... If I go to the progress page, I can see only 2 shows at the same time, while in the past I could see 6 (it was efficient, because I could compare my progress of TV shows)! And I haven't mentioned the fact, that if I watch it on my mobile, I can only see the POSTER of the show. And then I have to scroll down to see the progress and scroll down to see the next episode and after scrolling down again I could see finally the poster of another TV show. Please recognise, that it's really annoying when you have 30 shows you would like to see your progress of. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do something, because this way it's almost impossible to enjoy the website!
I'm with HD-Lover. The flat design trend is really nice, but it looks god awful if you're on a big computer monitor sized 1920x1080. Everything is blown up.
Things could be scaled down a bit. 2.0 seems to implement responsive design techniques, the size ratios and resizing seem a bit off and could be tweaked. Agreed that the progress page needs overhaul. I don't know how others use it, so not sure if I'm a fringe case, but I use it less as a nice display and more to see what I need to catch up on. In my case (and others who use it as such) it really cuts down on efficiency.
My main issue is when you resize the browser, say if I'm watching a show on half my screen and have Chrome open in the other half, nothing resizes. What's worse, it becomes a mess with too-large images completely obscuring the UI. I realize this is a new design, but that's really atrocious. CSS elements should scale properly...
Dear trakt.tv staff. I see you followed the 2014/2015 web trends nicely, well done (I'm a web developer too). I wonder though who sets those trends. Flat design is OK but in most cases it is too large.
Let's take progress page for example. Previous design allowed me to see 6 shows on a page (1280*800), the current one lets me see 2 and a half. The cover, progress bar, box padding, last episode's photo are too large.
Please mind, it is not just my taste. As a developer I work closely with some designers and a lot of testers and feedback providers to know who people feel about certain designs.
I personally think the sizes are mostly ok, the only page I think is really too big is the Progress page.
The size-related thing that's bugging me is how posters and fanart/backdrops are inserted in their full size everywhere around the site - that is, the profile page has 3+ 1080p pictures for the user stats (most watched tv/movie and last seen, and maybe the User Recommends section in the future), and 24 (!) full-sized posters (12 for the User's favorites, and 12 for the Recently watched tv/movies).
One of my most used pages (Progress) is very image heavy and has the pictures in full sized being redimensioned, so on my old PC it slows down my browser considerably, rendering it basically unusable.
