Mark show as abandoned (or dropped) when you intentionally stop watching.
Mark show as abandoned (or dropped) when you intentionally stop watching.

Currently, you can hide a show from you calendar or progress page. Hiding from watched progress also hides it from your dashboard on deck. Hiding in those 2 places should work for most users.
This topic proposes a “dropped” status for a show. This would hide from the 3 sections mentioned above + add a “dropped” indicator in places such as the show summary page.

It'd be nice to have for a personal record. For instance, if I come across a show I dropped some time in the future, I can look and see that I dropped it instead of wondering why I didn't finish it and avoid wasting my time and interest.

The interesting part of this idea is not the ability to hide the show from your "watched progress", but the stats of how many people have abandoned a show.
I think that a nice implementation of this idea could be to have a special list "Abandoned" in which I can insert the shows I've abandoned.
(Sorry for my bad English)

i think it would be interesting to see this and the stats where other users decided to abandon a show

This feature seems to be an "opt out" approach where you selectively remove shows you don't want to show up on deck.
What would be easier for me is to have an "opt in" approach in which only collected series show up on deck.
Any chance that this is already possible and I just can't find the appropriate settings?

It would be great if we had this, one because it could be helpful as someone said to "send a message" to show producers about dropped shows, second because of external apps that use our trakt account (e.g DuckieTV) etc and also so those shows are taken out of consideration for recommendations, sometimes you watched the first 3 episodes of a show and it sucked so I don't want to have related recommendations for it.

Thank you. I'll look into this.

@Vicky we expose the hidden items for apps and plugins to use, but it sounds like whichever you are using might not use that data to hide within their app. I would recommend sending a feature request to the app developer.

I use Trakt to sync two kodi devices and want to remove tv shows from my Trakt library once watched, or remove tv shows I've added in error. Each time I remove them from my collection or watch list they are still appearing in my Trakt library on my devices.

It would definitely be great to be able to see on a show page how many users started watching it and gave up.

I think only hide isn't enough. Many times this function doesn't work properly, plus, it will be great send a directly massage to anyone interested (watchers or producers): I watch all that episodes and I think this material does not deserve my audience anymore. That will be an efficient way to say how bad this show are or became

I hid some shows on the progress page but they still show up on dashboard as upcoming and I can't seem to remove them.

Yes, please. Not having a "dropped" option has been bugging me since the beginning.

I'm just now starting to use Trakt, so perhaps I'm doing this wrong/just getting accustomed to it, but to me, ideally, it would be best to have a "dropped" status that aggregated somewhere.
For example, if selecting the option to drop a show, the progress to date would be retained it in the progress page (but perhaps not have it count towards overall progress?), it would be removed from calendar and dash, but also automatically be added to a "Dropped" list/tab which contained all the shows abandoned by the user.
In a perfect world, I would actually venture to say it might be best if there were three separate tabs or prefabbed lists within a user's profile page, one for each of the three main show statuses:
1) Active (what I am currently watching; populates in the calendar, progress page, and dash)
2) Pending/Planned (what I plan on watching; populates on progress page and dash, but does not get added to calendar until moved to active)
3) Dropped/Abandoned (what I've given up on; retains any progress data [but perhaps filterable on the progress page], removed from dash and calendar)Just my two cents, but I would guess most users have shows they've dropped--or even just put on hold--but eventually go back to and they want to keep the data on what they've done so far. Hiding it entirely just makes us forget about it. So alternatively, the ability to exclude a list from the calendar might serve the same function. Would just be a bit more manual on the user's end.

Please provide your username so I can check if the items are correctly hidden. And also please send screenshots of the dashboard on deck and the collection progress so I can see if they line up correctly.

SO far I am seeing everything that is hidden.

The dashboard shows 6 items at a time. On mine, 2 of them are shows I stopped watching but won't go away, and two of them are The Daily Show And The Late Show, which when I mark the latest episode as watched, go all the way back their respective premieres rather than going away. So my dashboard is literally 2/3 useless, because the majority of the space it taken up by things that shouldn't be there.
For that matter, there should be a way to mark an episode as 'not watched and not going to be watched.' That way if you just don't want to see something, you don't have to mark it as watched anyway just to make the listing go away, but you can do so without ditching the whole series (for example if you go on vacation and aren't watching The Daily Show, you just mark those eps as 'not interested in going back and watching old stuff,' but keep your general reminder).

Do you see all the hidden shows listed at trakt.tv/settings/hidden? As I see it, the issue seems to be with the hiding either not working properly or not saving when you click the Ø icon to hide.
