Flag deleted TVDB shows
Trakt relies a lot on TVDB for shows. Sometimes TVDB has duplicates which eventually get fixed. But when that happens, these dupes are still available on Trakt.
I suggest coming up with a notification system that warns when a show has a TVDB entry disappear. Who would get notified? Well, mostly you guys, since you're the ones with the ability to remove dupes. Maybe you could also add a warning on the show page that the TVDB entry is gone and that Trakt admins are investigating.
This might cut down on dupes and the constant reports about them.
Note: this implies that shows on Trakt auto-refresh periodically, otherwise the disappearance of a TVDB entry will never be noticed. I assume that is the case.
Second this one. Season 1 of the original CSI has a 24th episode that doesn't exist, listed on Trakt. There isn't this unknown extra on TVDB, if it was ever there at all, and it screws up the completion stats on Trakt pretty thoroughly.

In general, there needs to be better ways to flag things that are wrong with listings. Currently, you just have people basically talking to a brick wall in the comments or on these forums.
"tvdb need to fix so we can fix it" - the major problem with this justification/answer is that TVDB is terrible/very slow at correcting things. It doesn't feel like many people man the site.
At least on TMDb the mods/admins are usually pretty quick to delete/correct things you flag, plus it's also easier to correct things as a regular user.
I also think that their "tvdb need to fix so we can fix it" when there is a dupe is not a valid anwer.
they could easy add a hide flag for series/movies if they found tvdb is wrong and there is no need to wait for tvdb to fix a dupe. just hide for the site, but in the backgound still exist.
Any update on this suggestion?
There really needs to be a way to more easily report duplicates, like a link on each movie/show's page.
I'd also like to see a "combine duplicates" button on the Search page. (Clicking it could show a checkbox on each item in the search results, and then a Submit button when you have two or more items listed.
Check out the system that Goodreads uses. It's pretty good.
I've recently requested removal of duplicate shows 5 different times on Trakt. I know it's not your fault: TVDB has dupes, and you end up getting those. I also try to report them to TVDB when I find them, then to you when TVDB takes care of them.
However, this is becoming repetitive. I really do think you need to create a system that automatically flags those shows on your end when they disappear from TVDB.
I don't know if you just want to notify yourselves/users when that happen, or simply purge the data, but this automation is needed at this point.
