Simkl (a new player on the tracking market) is in beta now and they have an easy to use plugin that detects a bunch of different media players.
This single plugin is making me reconsider if Trakt is the place for me. You should really devote some developing power to this (and no the Github stuff you have, that requires a degree in Computer Science, is not enough.
I'd hate to leave an otherwise great site due to usability like this.
Not something we plan on doing, but the API is available for any developer to integrate Trakt.

PLEASE someone, do a video tutorial on how to install and configure it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
as mentioned before do I have to be a coder to use Trakt with VLC ?
tutorial : https://www.mc-guinness.co.uk/blog/20160310/scrobble-from-vlc-to-trakt/
please trakt team or anyone who could make that. DO IT
This would be something I'd love to see as well, hopefully it'll gain official traction from the main trakt dev team in the future - I consider myself fairly competent in understanding basic code but the github traktforVLC repositary and readme instructions for windows installation has confused me completely.
So I see you have to be a coder to use Trakt with VLC. OK got it.
I have been a pro user for a good part of a year, and its well worth it. But honestly if there is a simple VLC plug-in then that would be amazing. I watch all my shows on infuse on my iPad because it is a fantastic App and automatically updates my Trakt account but when I watch it on my PC i have to do it manually because of VLC! Please try to push for a full VLC plug-in installation for Windows!
I have contacted them yes. Their install instructions are wrong for Windows 10 (and possibly other versions).
Not a bad idea, have you reached out to the Trakt for VLC developer on github to work with them on simplifying the install process? I'm sure they can help with any questions around that.
The universal tracker is a cool concept. We don't have the internal resources to work on that right now, but maybe someone in the developer community is interested in taking that on.
